Director of music

Oliver Bailey-Green MA was appointed as Director of Music in May 2011.

The Choir meets for pratice on Friday evenings at 5 pm and new members are always welcome. Oliver is an accomplished choir trainer and the choristers follow the RSCM Voice for Life programme.

With the new Viscount organ installed in April, Oliver is spearheading a revival of music in the parish. He is working closely with the choir of St Philip's with their Director Jim Sweasey and the two choirs combine for special services such as the Carol Service and Ash Wednesday.

Further afield, Oliver has worked with other Music Directors within our cluster churches. He co-ordinated the Advent Carol Service in November 2011 and is organising another cluster event during Passiontide.

Oliver acts as an advisor to church choirs and frequently visits other choir practices to help out with choir training.

Plans are in hand for Oliver to visit local schools where he offers workshops.

At the moment he is working hard on the Come and Sing event on March 24th, when choirs from across Portsmouth will come to Wymering to spend a day working on Vivaldi's Gloria and Faure's Requiem in preparation for a performance n the evening.
